A downloadable game

First Quest is a free, printable fantasy one-shot kit made for people trying tabletop role-playing for the first time.

I originally created it for my son and his friends. They wanted to try a D&D-style adventure, while I would be DMing for the first time too. So I wanted to keep the things that make tabletop RPGs fun & dice, character sheets, exploration, choices, combat, loot and ridiculous ideas, while making everything easier to understand and run.

The adventure is designed for a single session of a few hours.

Players can explore a tavern and city, investigate a royal library, travel through the forest, discover a ruined shrine and eventually reach the castle for the final confrontation.

About this project

This is a small fan-made project created for fun and to help new players experience their first tabletop adventure.

The adventure takes inspiration from the kind of classic fantasy stories I grew up with, including the spirit of the 2000 Dungeons & Dragons movie, but was adapted into a short beginner one-shot for my own table.

The artwork in this project was created with AI image-generation tools and then selected, arranged and adapted for this free printable set.

Free to download.
